Bolero baby!

I worked on my mum's bolero jacket yesterday...And seem to actually be making progress! I haven't had a chance to get knitty with it today but hopefully will finish the right front of her bolero watching Desperate Housewives and the Gray's Anatomy (I swear, Sundays and Thursday nights were made for knitting in front of the TV) As soon as I can figure out how to put a picture on the blog, you'll see the bolero in all different stages.

I took my weekly trip to JoAnn etc. last night and spent about $50 on yarn for my attempt at a sweater called Tubey from knitty.com. I just don't know what I would do without knitty and stitch'nbitch. All I have to say is that Tubey better be a really nice sweater.
Speaking of sweater, I started another one last night, just like I swore I would not. I bought this yummy blue yarn from Stitches and Scones and thought an asymmetrical cable sweater would be nice. I started making up the pattern only to discover that I suck at making up patterns. That sweater was ripped apart and the sweater from last summer's Vogue Knitting has been started. I think that will ultimately be ripped out too-- the gauge isn't quite right.
Also took a trip to Purdue today to see the most awesome boyfriend in the world!!!We had to go to Wallyworld so he could get his weekly 3 gallons of gatorade and there was this strange hot pink, purple and black printed fabric and it was a dollar a yarn. I couldn't help myself and bought 4 yards and a skirt pattern. I know what I'm doing next weekend!!

Frog-Fest '06

First things first. For those of you that are not extremely familiar with knitting terms, "Frogging" is the cute way of saying "tearing something you've knitted to shreds after realizing that you've done it wrong/it's ugly/it doesn't fit." Last night, at my brother's indoor soccer game (he did great by the way) I frogged the first project of the year. It was a wool purse, minutes away from felting (boiling, agitating, shrinking and thickening to all those unfarmiliar with how felt is made) before I ripped every little stitch out. It was supposed to look like a hobo bag, but it came out looking like a purple, green and blue weiner dog with a strap. Oh well, knit happens. New plans for the yarn include a patchwork-quilt inspired pusre made with jewel-colored and black triangles. I'll try to remember to take a few pictures before felting/frogging.
I have also told myself that I will finish 2 projects before I start on purse, take 2. I should finish the bolero jacket for my mummy, but that requires paying attention to a pattern. So...I think I will finish a scarf which sold before Christmas and a pair of socks made from leftover Christmas present yarn. That's just what I'm saying today. We'll see how long the "finish something before starting something else" state-of-mind lasts. As for now....toodles and happy knitting!

Scarf, interrupted

My name is Paige, and I am a knitaholic. At this point in time, I have 4 sweaters, 3 scarves, 3 purses and 1 pair of socks on the needles. I have run out of places to stash my unfinished projects-which is actually nothing new. Yarn for 2 additional sweaters is on its way to my house from a company in England. Of course, I will share all of my projects, triumphs and moments that make me feel like a moron. I will also attempt to furnish my blog with pictures of projects in their various stages...so keep checking to see if I've actually finished something!! Also, I will discuss my new addiction to spinning wool and beads in the hunt for the perfect yarn. If you knit also and would like to share patterns, suggestions, questions and answers....PLEASE....feel free to do so. As for now, I must go. Sleeve #2 on sweater #3 is calling my name....Paige! Finish me!!!
